An OLPC laptop on auction in Seattle!

The East African Center (EAC) will auction off an OLPC laptop at their annual event. June 6th will be An Evening for Africa at the Hilton in Seattle. The event will include a dinner and entertainment with both a silent and live auction. All proceeds will go to benefit the EAC. At the auction Breona will introduce the attendees to the XOs, allow them to test them out and answer questions about the project.

OLPC Grant Awarded!

Our team, Breona Gutschmidt, Emma Nierman, and Cecilia Jezek from the University of Washington, Jen Hill, Priyanka Rao, and Bryan Isom from the New School were awarded an One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) grant!

OLPC's mission is "to create educational opportunities for the world's poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning. When children have access to this type of tool they get engaged in their own education. They learn, share, create, and collaborate. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future."
